JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Players Championship is breaking with its country roots and bringing in hip-hop star Ludacris for its Military Appreciation concert in March.
The tournament announced the headliner for the March 10 event on Thursday morning. The performance from Ludacris will follow the Military Appreciation Day ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The concert will be held on the No. 17 island green hole.

Ludacris’ performance will be family friendly. Admission is free with the purchase of tickets on Tuesday. Complimentary and reduced price tickets for military will be available next month. That information can be found here.
Tournament rounds at The Players are March 11-15. at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. Rory McIlroy beat J.J. Spaun in a three-hole Monday playoff in last year’s Players.
“Military Appreciation Day means a lot to us and welcoming Ludacris to one of the most iconic stages in golf is a pretty special way to celebrate,” Players executive director Lee Smith said in a statement.
The Players has always featured an established country star or a rising act to headline the military concert. The event has hosted megastars like Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Big & Rich and Toby Keith since the first concert in 2010.
Ludacris brings a change to the country genre.
He’s been a massive crossover star, shining as a musical artist and winning three Grammy awards, and also acting, notably as the character Tej, in the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise.
