JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Adriana Jeanpierre arrived at Beachside High School with a volleyball to-do list.
At the very top of it, Jeanpierre said, was to leave something that her teammates and future players could be proud to have been a part of.

As she wraps up her stellar four-year career with the Barracudas as the Varsity 4 All-News4JAX volleyball player of the year, Jeanpierre can scratch that one off the list.
The four-year-old St. Johns County program has muscled in as one of the area’s top programs and positioned well for years to come, thanks in large part to the springy 5-9 outside hitter who will move to setter in college at Mississippi State.
When Jeanpierre and the rest of the current Beachside seniors started their first season at the school in 2022, there wasn’t much of anything there. The campus was still being put together when students started there that fall. The gym was still being finished, and the Barracudas had to practice at nearby Liberty Pines Academy.
Home games wouldn’t happen for another year. But those constant road trips made for unforgettable experiences for Jeanpierre and her fellow freshmen (Erica Duffy, Jayden Roberts), who went on to become four-year varsity players.
“Not practicing in our own gym and also just kind of like being on the road all the time brought us closer together in the way that we had to be here for each other,” she said. “Like, we have to depend on each other. Then getting our gym sophomore year, I feel like that just kind of solidified that we’re going to leave something great behind.”
Jeanpierre, like many athletes, bounced from sport to sport in her early years, trying to find which one fit the best. But volleyball was always there. Her mother coached the sport, and Jeanpierre said that she and her sister were always around watching practice. She said the welcoming nature of her mother’s players helped pull her in.
“I think that kind of sparked my love for volleyball,” she said.
Jeanpierre said she really began to take the sport seriously when her family lived in California. She’d spent a year playing club volleyball, and Jeanpierre thought she was “great.” So, she tried out for a club team that was a year above where she was at, and learned a huge lesson in the process.
“I didn’t end up making the 12s team,” she said. “Even though I didn’t make it, it was just kind of the drive where I really, really wanted to make it, and I knew that I could continuously push myself to get better in all aspects of the sport. I think that’s kind of like what really sparked it for me.”
Jeanpierre and her family moved here in 2019, and the volleyball pace picked up. By the time she arrived at Beachside for her freshman season, the table was set for something good to happen. Jeanpierre led Beachside in kills all four seasons of her career, including a program-high 367 in her senior season. The Barracudas went to the playoffs all four seasons, including trips to the regional finals in Jeanpierre’s junior and senior years. They lost both times to two-time defending state champion Tallahassee Chiles.
“I feel like being able to be there from when the program first started to finishing out the season to now, it’s honestly been a really special experience,” she said.
