JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five area girls basketball teams are moving on to the final four in their backyard.
Bartram Trail, Bishop Kenny, Bolles, North Florida Educational and San Jose Prep emerged winners in regional finals on Friday night. Next stop, a place those programs know well: the University of North Florida.

Bartram (17-9), notched the night’s biggest win, a 49-46 upset over top-seeded Tocoi Creek in Region 1-6A. The Bears won a pair of games in the Panhandle region before returning to St. Johns County and bouncing the Toros, a final four team last season. Bartram will play in its first semi since 2019 on March 12.
In Region 1-2A, San Jose Prep knocked off host Providence 60-51 to reach the final four. That sends the Storm and head coach John McGraw to the semis on March 6.
Host Bishop Kenny got everything it wanted from Fort Walton Beach but held on for a 45-43 win to return to the final four after missing out last year. The Crusaders (26-4) will play on March 10.
And top-seeded Bolles crushed Newberry 68-34 in Region 1-3A to return to the final four. The Bulldogs were the state runner-up last year. Bolles had never been to the state semifinals before last year and now go in back-to-back seasons under head coach Kelly Stevenson.
In 1-1A, NFEI went on the road and edged L.E.A.D. Academy 62-59 in overtime. The Eagles finished last year as state runner-up.
