JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women’s basketball team is headed to Baton Rouge for its second NCAA tournament experience.
The Dolphins (24-8) earned the No. 15 seed in the Sacramento 2 Regional and will open at No. 2 LSU on Friday. It’s a huge assignment for head coach Special Jennings and the Dolphins, who beat Austin Peay in overtime to win the ASUN championship.

“It feels great. It’s a great experience. It’s exciting. Now that we know who the opponent is we’ll start getting ready and prepared but the young ladies were excited,” Jennings said.
That’s a well-coached team, obviously, that’s a national prominence team. We’re going to show up and we’re going to compete.
The Tigers (27-5) and head coach Kim Mulkey have reached the Elite Eight the last three seasons.
It’s just the second NCAA tournament berth in program history. The Dolphins were a No. 16 seed in 2016. They lost to South Carolina, 77-41 in the opening round.
In the early line, LSU opened as a 41.5-point favorite over JU.
