The prosecution is resting in the second trial of Karen Read after attorneys for the state of Massachusetts took a more streamlined approach to try to prove Read’s guilt in the killing of her Boston police officer boyfriend.

A man who said Kevin Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 has dropped his lawsuit against the actor. Mitchell Garabedian, a lawyer for the man, announced in an email Friday that the suit filed June 26 in Nantucket Superior Court has been voluntarily dismissed. Spacey still faces a criminal charge. The civil suit was filed months into the ongoing criminal case, but such suits are typically filed after a criminal case is decided, he said. The civil suit was likely filed before completion of the criminal case because the three-year statute of limitations is approaching, added Yannetti.
