Under Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida has executed more people so far this year than any other state, setting a new state record.

Florida has carried out a record ninth execution this year, putting to death a man convicted of killing his wife and their two children decades ago.

Three executions are scheduled within the next month in Florida, including one on Thursday night.
