Nearly 100 people rallied in downtown Jacksonville Thursday after an ICE officer fatally shot Renee Good in Minnesota. Demonstrators marched between courthouses demanding justice and immigration reform.

A Jacksonville immigrant advocacy group said it is “deeply concerned” about the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s conducting a driver’s license checkpoint in Green Cove Springs on Friday.

A local advocacy group for immigrants’ rights is expected to hold a rally and news conference on Friday afternoon to denounce Governor Ron DeSantis’s plans to convert the Baker Correctional Facility into a new immigrant detention center, dubbed “Deportation Depot.”
