The race for St. Johns County sheriff will come to a close on Tuesday night as polls have closed for the Florida primary election.

St. Johns County sheriff Rob Hardwick is seeking a second term. He defeated challenger Jim Priester in the Republican primary. While there is no Democratic candidate in the race, because a write-in candidate did qualify for the general election, the primary was only open to Republican voters.

A third Republican candidate has put in his bid to challenge St. Johns County Sheriff Rob Hardwick, who is running for re-election for his second term.
