25 readers were honored Monday at a City Hall ceremony commemorating the one-year anniversary of River City Readers, a citywide challenge to help more Duval County students read at a grade level.

The year-long citywide challenge to improve literacy rates among school-aged children known as “River City Readers” has surpassed its goal of 1.5 million minutes read, according to Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan.
