A report by Rhode Island’s attorney general detailing decades of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy is giving survivors a sense of vindication while renewing calls for accountability and support.

One of Hollywood's most famous and recognizable actors, Spacey's career collapsed in November 2017 following several allegations of sexual assault and harassment. Actor Anthony Rapp, in an interview with BuzzFeed, accused Spacey of making a sexual advance toward him in 1986 when he was 14 years old and Spacey was 26. One former production assistant told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him during one of the show's early seasons. According to the criminal complaint, an 18-year-old busboy at Club Car told Spacey that he was 23 and befriended the actor. Later, as the two stood near the piano player in the bar, Spacey reached over and began to rub the busboy's thigh, the complaint states.

The criminal sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey has been dropped. According to court documents obtained by ET on Wednesday, Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael OKeefe dropped the actor's groping case due to the "unavailability of the complaining witness." The news comes weeks after a man who claimed Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 dropped his lawsuit against the actor. ET previously reported in November 2017 that Spacey was seeking "evaluation and treatment" after he was accused of sexual assault and misconduct by several men. A man who said Kevin Spacey groped him in a Nantucket bar in 2016 has dropped his lawsuit against the actor. Mitchell Garabedian, a lawyer for the man, announced in an email Friday that the suit filed June 26 in Nantucket Superior Court has been voluntarily dismissed. Spacey still faces a criminal charge. The civil suit was filed months into the ongoing criminal case, but such suits are typically filed after a criminal case is decided, he said. The civil suit was likely filed before completion of the criminal case because the three-year statute of limitations is approaching, added Yannetti.
