Garrett Rolfe, the officer who shot the 27-year-old Brooks on Friday night at a fast-food restaurant, was fired after the killing. The Wendy's where Brooks was shot was burned down after his killing. An officer found Brooks asleep behind the wheel of the car, and a breath test found he was intoxicated. An autopsy found that Brooks was shot twice in the back.

Before his downfall, Ghosn was a revered figure in the auto industry, especially in Japan, where he was a corporate superstar.

The Japanese carmaker on Tuesday named Makoto Uchida as CEO, tapping an executive who has experience in the key market of China. The resignation dealt yet another blow to Nissan, which has been struggling to recover from the ousting of former chairman Carlos Ghosn last November. Nissan reported in July that profits plunged 99% for the first quarter of its fiscal year.

The French carmaker has invested 1 billion yuan ($145 million) for a 50% share in Jianglin Motor Electric Vehicles, the companies said on Wednesday. The subsidiary of Jianglin Motor sold nearly 500,000 electric vehicles in 2018, making it one of the leading players in China. Electric vehicle sales have grown rapidly in China on the back of government subsidies and tax incentives. China is already the world's biggest market for electric vehicles. Since then, Volkswagen, Ford and BMW have set up electric car joint ventures with their local partners.
