Demolition of the historic Magic Beach Motel in Vilano Beach has begun to make way for new condominiums and retail space, while preserving some iconic elements.

The Magic Beach Motel has been a staple in Vilano Beach for over 70 years. It's set to close at the end of September following the approval of a demolition permit from St. Johns County in August. A developer plans to demolish the property before the end of the year in order to make way for condos and retail.
