The Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday announced the arrests of two out-of-state teenagers accused of swatting a Poinciana kid in back-to-back days after they became upset with the way he played Fortnite.

In short, it’s when someone calls 911 or alerts authorities to a fake threat that causes a mass police response.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested just after Flager County Sheriff Rick Staly addressed concerns about a series of threats made at schools across the county.

After a week of shooting threats targeting schools in Flagler County, Sheriff Rick Staly held a press conference Thursday afternoon to address concerns and “set the record straight” on the incidents.

Swatting or calling 911 and faking an emergency at a home, school, or business to get a response from law enforcement is something that’s been happening for years. Seven swatting incidents happened in Jacksonville dating back to last year with the most recent one happening in January.
