VENTURA, Calif. – A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed over the drowning of “Glee” actor Naya Rivera, who died this summer while boating with her 4-year-old son on a California lake. The suit, filed Tuesday, blames Ventura County and managers of Lake Piru for her accidental death on July 8 at the lake northwest of Los Angeles. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said Rivera's body was most likely trapped in thick vegetation underwater for several days before floating to the top. A call seeking comment from Ventura County wasn't immediately returned Wednesday night. A county spokesperson declined to comment to Fox News, saying the county hadn't been served with the lawsuit.

She must have mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself, Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said at a news conference. The mother and son had gone swimming, which was permitted in that part of the lake, Ayub said. Another co-star, Mark Salling, who Rivera dated at one point, killed himself in 2018 at age 35 after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Surveillance video showed the mother and son parking and renting the boat at about 1 p.m. on July 8. The boy, Riveras son from her marriage to actor Ryan Dorsey, was safe and healthy and quickly reunited with family members after he was found, authorities said.

That is one dirty bird. A great horned owl recently fell into an oil pit in Ventura County, California, and the soaked bird needed a good scrubbing. Workers from the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Networks scooped the animal up and brought it to the center for treatment. Using lots of dish soap and warm water, they moved the owl from tub to tub to wash the gunk from its feathers. Once the Wildlife Care Network was finished, the owl was sent to the International Bird Rescue for more cleaning.
