Non-profits will apply for grants or have to find another way to help the community

An organization designed to help families of unsolved homicide victims is having funding issues.

Since 2019, Cure Violence has been working to reduce crime in the most high-risk areas of Jacksonville. Tuesday, the program presented a proposal for an increase in funding by half a million dollars.

It’s more than a week before a lawsuit attempting to block the state’s opt-out mandate is expected to be ruled on.
