Florida fugitive killed by police after shooting at officers
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. โ A suspect was shot dead by police after he opened fire on Daytona Beach officers serving a warrant for his arrest, officials said. Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri said one of the officers was shot in the chest but was wearing his bulletproof vest and was expected to recover soon. The suspect was 44-year-old Michael Harris, who was wanted in connection with a shooting involving a woman earlier this month. And I can tell you if you pull a gun on a police officer to shoot a police officer you are going to get killed. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shootout.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the unknown suspect stole approximately $3,500 from the Chevron gas station off SW Highway 27 in Fort White before fleeing the store on foot. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Highway Patrol, and the Florida Department of Corrections responded to the scene with K-9's to search for the suspect. The search by K-9 officers led to an area where the suspect was believed to have fled in an unknown vehicle.
