JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An infant and a mother were hospitalized after a crash Monday morning in the Lakeshore South neighborhood on the city's Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The crash took place just about 8:15 a.m. at San Juan and Vista avenues.

Police said a car traveling south on Vista Avenue ran a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck heading west on San Juan Avenue. The collision caused the car to hit a third vehicle, police said. 

An infant was transported to UF Health with life-threatening injuries, and a mother was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The crash blocked all lanes on San Juan Avenue at Vista Avenue.

Detectives continue to investigate the crash.
