CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A teenager died in a crash involving three cars Wednesday morning in Clay County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators said Jonathan Edward Barnes, 19, of Green Cove Springs, died from his injuries in the crash, which happened at 11:42 a.m. at the intersection of Henley Road and Lake Asbury Drive.
According to FHP, Barnes was traveling south on Henley Road and crossed into oncoming lanes, hitting an SUV. Barnes' car then struck a third car.
The two people inside the third car had minor injuries. Jennifer Batchelor was driving the SUV that was involved and walked away unharmed.
"As soon as I got out of the car, I thought about my kids, my five children and how I could’ve left them without a mom," Batchelor said.
Charges are pending in the crash, according to the FHP report.
