Woman killed in crash with school bus, 2 other vehicles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 63-year-old died in a multivehicle crash Thursday morning in East Arlington. All eastbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard near Kernan remain blocked through the early afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Brenda Snodgrass' Toyota Camry sedan was eastbound on Atlantic Boulevard about 8:15 a.m. and didn't stop at a red light at Withrow Drive, just west of Kernan Boulevard. Her car went under the rear of a school bus that was entering Atlantic Boulevard on a green signal, then struck two other vehicles and ended up on top of the concrete divider in the median.

Snodgrass was taken to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, but she did not survive.

Seven elementary students were on board the bus at the time but none of them was injured and neither was the driver, the FHP said. Duval County Public Schools said the students were able to continue on to their schools, either Sabal Palm or Waterleaf Elementary.

The scene finally cleared and all lanes reopened by 2 p.m.
