FHP: Man, 50, killed when truck hits tree along County Road 108

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A 50-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday night in Nassau County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported just after 8 p.m. on County Road 108 about 2 miles east of Owens Farm Road and just west of Interstate 95.

Troopers said Wayne Thornton, of Hilliard, was headed west on CR 108 in a Ford F250 truck when he traveled off the road and hit a tree.

According to the FHP report, Thornton was not wearing a seat belt.

He died at the scene.
