Main Street Bridge closed for 1 hour after malfunction
File photo
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Main Street Bridge was closed in both directions Thursday afternoon because it was inoperable, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. The alert was sent at 2:03 p.m.
Drivers were asked to find alternate routes across the river.
The bridge reopened shortly after 3 p.m.
The Florida Department of Transportation said the bridge’s dragnet system, basically its crash cushion, malfunctioned after a lift but the issue was resolved.
All other bridges remained open.
