JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man in his 40s died early Tuesday morning after a crash near the intersection of Flicker Avenue and Ernwill Street in the Lincoln Villas neighborhood of Northwest Jacksonville, police said.
Sgt. Rob Hungerford with the JSO Traffic Homicide Unit said that around 1:30 a.m., the man was in a Ford Taurus headed north on Ernwill, which is in the area of Moncrief Road West and New Kings Road.

At the same time, a Chevy Colorado was headed south on Ernwill, and the vehicles sideswiped each other.
The collision sent the Taurus careening off the road to the west, where it hit a parked car, Hungerford said.
The driver of the Taurus was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
The driver of the Colorado was not hurt and remained at the scene, Hungerford said.
This marks the 70th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2026.
