PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – A 27-year-old bicyclist was killed Monday night when she was struck by a car in Putnam County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the driver ran from the scene on foot.

According to the crash report, the bicyclist, who is from Gainesville, was on St. Johns Avenue, just west of West Larson Boulevard, around 9:45 p.m. when a 2020 Kia Forte swerved into the left side of the two-lane road and hit her.
Troopers said the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
The report lists the driver as a 35-year-old man from East Palatka, but also says the driver ran off and left the car at the scene.
Troopers are asking anyone with information about the driver or the crash to call *FHP.
