News4JAX+ at 10 a.m.: How BEAM is helping families

As we mark Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day and his commitment to volunteerism and community service, we traveled to the beach where there is a non- profit organization that is helping families who work and live at the beach who suddenly find themselves in financial crisis. Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry, BEAM, can provide them with rent, food, and utility assistance. BEAM is also working with Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle school students teaching them about healthy eating and giving them a chance to learn about the importance of volunteerism.
