Red Flag Warning issued for Northeast Florida as wildfire danger rises | Here are some safety tips
A rare red flag warning was issued Thursday for parts of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, as gusty winds, very low humidity and severe to extreme drought created conditions that can quickly spark new wildfires or cause existing fires to spread. The Florida Forest Service reported five active wildfires in Northeast Florida. Crews also responded to dozens of fires earlier this week, and some incidents have led to road closures and school disruptions, officials said. Here are some safety tips for residents in affected areas.
