WATCH: JEA Board discusses claims against JEA CEO, confirms confidence in her as utility's leader
During a board meeting Tuesday amid rising tensions over leadership, JEA Vice Chair Ricardo “Rick” Morales III admitted that he privately asked CEO Vickie Cavey to resign after he said employees voiced concerns to him about a “toxic” workplace culture at the city-owned utility. Morales asked the board to consider an external review of JEA leadership. Instead, the board voted 6-1 to confirm confidence in Cavey as the utility's CEO.
