Weather Authority Weekday: Afternoon storms, Hurricane Erick and hikers struck by lightning

If you’ve been keeping an eye on hurricane season, here’s some relief: The Atlantic is calm and is expected to stay that way for at least the next seven days. While there’s nothing brewing in the Atlantic right now, the Pacific is really firing off. Hurricane Erick, which was upgraded to an “extremely dangerous” Category 4 early Thursday, is expected to strike Southern Mexico’s Pacific coast.
