Why raindrops move up or down on a windshield?

The direction a raindrop moves depends on its size

Dynamics of a droplet on a windshield depends on it's size under wind and gravity.

Have you ever pondered why some raindrops on your windshield don’t move while others slide upwards or down? IT makes sense gravity pulls down droplets but why would they flow up while some don’t budge?

Physicists have looked into this and released a new study that shows the size of the drop determines if it drops stay put or take a ride.

It turns out larger drops move downward because of gravity, while the smaller drops move upward from the force of the wind blowing over the windshield. Medium-sized raindrops, stay fixed when both forces cancel each other out.

The results are not the same on all vehicles since raindrops on steeper windshields slip from gravity more than on less angled windshields.
