A milk shortage from Hurricane Ian has kept skim milk off the shelves of several stores around Jacksonville, including Publix and Walmart.
Empty shelves were limited to skim milk while other milk varieties remained well stocked.

The run on milk began before the storm when retailers had a surge in purchases leading up to the storm.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, condensed skim milk availability was tight and in solid demand.
Milk is expected to be replenished quickly as deliveries get back on schedule. The weather delays caused distribution trouble between farms and the consumer. Other than a few dairies out of commission in southwest Florida, production is in full swing at dozens of dairies spread statewide helping to absorb any supply shock to supermarkets.
Matt Lusfier runs a dairy in Hawthorne, Florida, and says the industry is very resilient through inclement weather maintaining full production. His cows were milked twice a day as Ian crossed the state. His milk goes to Publix supermarket where its Lakeland distribution center had to suspend operations.
As supply chain distribution returns to normal, expect to see a complete selection of milk hitting the shelves.
