Record-breaking cold highs and bitter cold wind chills into the weekend A warmup is on the horizon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. â Cold temperatures continue over the next several days keeping highs and lows well below normal.
Beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, a Freeze Warning will go into effect for all our Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia counties through 10 a.m. Friday. A Cold Weather Advisory is also in effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Friday. The potential for a hard freeze is high as overnight temperatures drop into the 20s.
Cold Weather Explainer Highs will be in the low-to-mid 40s under mostly cloudy skies, and the chilly wind sticks around. Some sunshine might poke through before the clouds move out this evening and the cold temperatures begin to sink.
The high on Wednesday (34 degrees!) was the coldest, and recording breaking, since the last Jacksonville snow day in December 1989.
Thankfully, normal temperatures return on Monday.
