Thunderstorms are lifting north, locally heavy rain continues

A cluster of thunderstroms near and along I-95, over Duval, Nassau and Camden counties continues to weaken as it moves toward the northeast.

Thunderstorms will wind down late tonight as they head toward Amelia Island and the Golden Isles through 11 p.m.

Frequent lightning, locally heavy rain and strong wind will be possible.

The pattern continues Wednesday through Friday with ample heat and competing sea breezes.

Evening: Showers, thunderstorms through sunset. Patchy fog overnight.

Wednesday: A warm and muggy morning will lead to a hot and humid afternoon. Feels Like temperatures around 100-105 degrees. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, 40-50 percent. Lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Wind S/SE 10-15 mph.

This week: Heat index values will hover around 100 - 105 with afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
