News4JAX meteorologist Mark Collins, with The Weather Authority and Exact Track 4D, says temperatures are expected to approach 97 degrees on Saturday. When you factor in the humidity, it could feel more like 103 to 108 degrees, especially in the afternoon hours. Mark Collins stresses that once the heat index hits 108, conditions become dangerous for outdoor activities such as yard work or sports. It’s wise to limit time outside during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated, and take frequent breaks if you have to be outdoors.

Looking ahead to Sunday and Monday, highs are forecast to stay near 100 degrees. According to Mark Collins, “It will definitely be a scorcher,” with the early part of next week likely to remain dangerously hot.

Rain chances diminishing, drier weather expected

If you’ve been hoping for rain to cool things down, it’s not likely this weekend. A drying trend is underway, and the forecast calls for mostly dry conditions over the next couple of days. There is a slight possibility of isolated showers, but those would be well west of Jacksonville, generally out toward the I-75 corridor. A ridge of high pressure over the region is expected to keep skies mostly clear and limit rain chances.
