You might be wondering, why does it feel much colder when it’s windy? Here’s the science.

Wind chill information.

With a light wind, the layer of heat generated by our bodies keeps us warm. However, when you add wind, body heat escapes as the wind picks up. The wind pushes the layer of heat away from our bodies which is why it feels much colder.

Wind chill safety tips.

Make sure to limit your time outdoors in the cold. Remember that hypothermia and frostbite can occur in just minutes with exposed skin. Make sure to cover exposed skin if you must go outside.

We have the potential for another frost and freeze overnight.

Low temperatures will likely drop into the 20s and 30s once again north and west of the metro.

Tonight's low temperatures.

As a result, a Freeze Warning is in effect for part of our area until Tuesday morning.
