JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – We woke up to another brisk morning here across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. While it’s not as biting as what we felt yesterday, you probably still needed that extra layer stepping out the door.
Portions of Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida are under a Freeze Warning until 9 a.m.
Wind chills and gusty breezes
Those northerly winds are hanging around, with gusts in the teens and low 20s for most. Yesterday saw us dealing with gusts in the 30s and 40s, so today should feel a little less harsh.
Inland spots are picking up lighter gusts, which is one bright spot for those waking up to colder air. By midday, expect some stronger breezes near St. Augustine, but overall, things are forecast to improve more quickly than what we endured yesterday.
Warming up after the cold snap
The good news? Warmer weather is nearly here.
Starting tomorrow, we’re back above average with highs in the mid-70s. Our seasonal average is 68, so these 70s are going to feel fantastic.
Once we shake the cold today, that’s the end of the cold snap for a while. The weekend is looking beautiful: highs in the 70s, sunshine, and just a few clouds. Here’s how it’s shaping up:
- Today: 64, mostly clear
- Tonight: 44, cloudy
- Tomorrow: 71, mostly clear, lighter breeze
- Saturday: 73, plenty of sun
- Sunday: 77, mostly sunny
- Monday: 74, a few clouds
Hour by hour, temperatures don’t jump quickly today. By 8 a.m., we’ll be hovering around 40, but expect 56 by 11 a.m. and 63 by mid-afternoon.
Looking ahead to next week
Beyond the weekend, forecast models keep us mostly sunny with seasonably warm days and nighttime lows that shouldn’t dip nearly as low as what we’ve just faced.
