JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – While temperatures were much warmer this afternoon compared to yesterday, clear skies will allow temperatures to plummet overnight again.

January 1, 2026, will begin with a Freeze Warning (1 a.m.-8 a.m.) for inland SE GA and NE FL, and Frost Advisory (3 a.m.-8 a.m.) for coastal SE GA and portions of NE FL south to Flagler County. Thursday. Northwesterly winds won’t be as breezy, but there will be a slight wind chill.

While temperatures east of I-95 aren’t expected to drop below freezing, frosty conditions can harm sensitive vegetation. Inland areas should continue to protect their plants, people, and pets for at least another night.

Friday afternoon temperatures will warm ahead of the next cold front, bringing showers and isolated thunderstorms to SE GA and NE FL on Saturday.

Rain moves out Sunday morning, leaving behind drier and cooler weather on Sunday for the Jags game.
