New year, warming weather with rain on the way this weekend in Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia

Tonight forecast

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a frosty start of 29 degrees, temperatures have warmed up nicely throughout the afternoon under super clear blue skies. Cold temperatures return overnight, but staying out of the freezing range in the mid-to-upper 30s. Patchy frost along and north of I-10 by early morning is possible.

Another cold front is heading our way, and this one will pack a wet punch. Showers with isolated thunderstorms are expected in Southeast Georgia late Friday night into Saturday, moving to the southeast throughout the day. The system will move offshore by late Saturday night, early Sunday morning.

Saturday rain

Dry conditions and partly cloudy skies will prevail for the Jaguars’ win over the Titans on Sunday, with temperatures in the low 60s. Warmer weather will follow into the middle of next week.
