JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s feeling more like early spring than winter out there, and we’ve got some big changes in temperatures you’ll want to know about.
Right now, we’re looking at temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s, depending on where you are.
As we move through the day, expect a quick warm-up — about a 16-degree climb from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. By the time you hit lunchtime, you may already see the mid-60s, and then upper 70s are likely this afternoon.
The warmth is here to stay. We are expected to reach the 80s by Friday and Saturday, which is above what we typically see this time of year.
Light fog in some areas
Visibility is something I always watch first thing in the morning, and today, we’re seeing patchy fog. It’s not as dense or as widespread as yesterday, so that’s good news if you’re heading out. Most of Jacksonville and the airport look clear, but spots like Stark, Orange Park, Waycross, and Brunswick are waking up to foggy conditions.
If you’re in those areas, keep an eye out on your drive. The fog isn’t expected to stick around long — most of it should clear out by about 9 a.m. After that, it’s smooth sailing under mostly clear skies.
Rain chances remain low
If you’ve been wondering when we’ll get a good soaking, I’ve got to tell you — it’s not likely this week. Rain chances are low to nearly obsolete, with only a 10 percent shot of showers on Wednesday. The rest of the week, including the weekend, looks dry according to our Exact Track 4D radar and futurecast models.
That’s great news for any outdoor plans, but we are still under drought conditions. We’ll need a lot more rain in the forecast to turn that around. For anyone headed to the Jags game this Sunday, I’m expecting colder air to move in — but don’t worry, no rain is expected for the game itself. I’ll keep you updated as those details develop.
Seeing anything interesting outside this week, like beautiful sunrises or that patchy morning fog? I’d love to see your perspective. Share your pictures with us at SnapJAX and help show how the weather looks in your neighborhood!
