Dense Fog Advisory: Morning visibility drops ahead of weekend cooldown

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – I want to put this morning’s weather in real perspective for you—my normal 20-minute drive took me 35, just because of how intense this fog is.

Visibility dropped so low that it was hard to see even a foot or two ahead. I watched not one but two animals dart across the road, and with kids heading out to the bus stop, I can honestly say it was dangerous today. And trust me—I don’t use that word lightly unless it fits what we’re really seeing on Exact Track 4D.

We’ve got a dense fog advisory for both inland and coastal parts of our area. Around spots like Julington Creek Marina and Riverside, you could barely see the tops of the buildings. It’s muggy, humid, and with little to no breeze, the fog is just sticking around. If you’ve got to be out early, take it slow. If you catch any wild fog moments, share them with us at SnapJAX.

Some drivers were speeding past me, which definitely isn’t the move today. This isn’t the day for rushing—give yourself extra time and keep your eyes peeled for animals and people, especially near crosswalks.

Warm spell before big temperature drop

Temperature-wise, it felt mild to start—most spots sat in the upper 50s and 60s, and it’s expected we’ll top out in the 80s today and tomorrow. That’s well above our average high of 65.

But don’t get too comfortable. A cold front is forecast to move in and shake up our weather this weekend. Once that front pushes through, you can expect highs to fall back into the upper 50s and low 60s, with overnight lows tumbling all the way into the 30s by Monday and Tuesday.

Right now, Exact Track 4D shows the front is moving a bit slower than first expected, which may impact rain timing. We’re not seeing any heavy showers in the forecast for Saturday—in fact, it looks dry through most of the weekend kickoff.

Weekend outlook for Jags vs. Bills game

I know everyone’s eyeing Sunday’s Jags vs. Bills matchup at EverBank Stadium. Kickoff at 1 p.m. is forecast for partly sunny skies and about 62 degrees. There’s a 20 percent chance for a few light showers, mostly between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., but nothing that should ruin your plans or the game.

Most of what we see with this front are some breezy moments and light sprinkles—so bring a light jacket or poncho, just in case. If anything heavier pops up on Exact Track 4D, I’ll keep you posted on-air and online.

So to recap, keep it slow this morning, prepare for one more day of unseasonably warm temps, and get out the layers for next week’s chill. Stay safe and share your fog photos!
