JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The big chill is coming through our area beginning Thursday night as the coldest temperatures we’ve seen this winter settle in for a while. Winter is going to pack a punch, and you need to be prepared and protected.
Cold weather headlines
As of this morning, the only active watch in place for Friday morning is a Freeze Watch. This is issued ~24-36 hours in advance (will likely become a Freeze Warning). The watch is for Thursday at 11 p.m., continuing through Friday morning, including all counties, as well as our coastal cities.
Current alerts
Freeze Watch:
Inland lows - 20-27 degrees
Coastal lows - 27-32 degrees
Wind chills - low 20s
Widespread frost
Meanwhile, today will be cooler and cloudy as the front approaches. There’s a chance of light showers throughout the day. High temperatures will top out in the normal range - mid-60s. More rain tomorrow as the front passes through before clearing skies allow the arctic blast to sink in Friday morning.
