JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Make sure to bundle up this morning as temperatures are in the 30s across the area. A FREEZE WARNING remains in effect for several of our Georgia counties and a FROST ADVISORY remains in effect for several of our Florida counties through 8 AM.
High pressure will shift to the east, which will bring more mild air into the region. We will see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Cloud cover will increase overnight ahead of our weekend system. Temperatures will drop into the 30s and 40s.
Our attention will then turn to the upcoming weekend where we will be tracking bitterly cold air along with the potential for wintry weather across a portion of the Southeast.
Saturday will feature more clouds than sunshine with temperatures near 50s degrees. With the wind it will feel like the 40s in the afternoon.
With enough cold air in place, wintry weather is possible for a portion of the Southeast Saturday afternoon through Sunday as colder air moves in behind the system. More specifically across the Carolinas where several inches of snow will be possible.
As the disturbance moves up the coast, we will be on the backside of it. A strong northwesterly wind will usher in bitterly cold air on Sunday. Morning temperatures will be in the teens and twenties and with the wind it will feel like the single digits and teens. An EXTREME COLD WATCH is in effect due to the bitterly cold wind chills. Highs on Sunday will only be in the low to mid 40s.
Temperatures will likely remain below average through the middle of next week with highs in the 40s and 50s and lows in the 20s and 30s.
