JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The rest of the day will feature a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures near 80 degrees. An isolated shower will be possible, but most spots will stay dry. Clouds will increase tonight ahead of our next system, which is a cold front. Highs on Sunday will be in the low to mid 80s.
The front will bring unsettled conditions to our forecast tomorrow with scattered showers and storms likely in the afternoon and evening.
A few storms may be strong to severe with gusty winds and small hail. Our area has been placed in a risk level 1 out of 5 for seeing severe weather.
The front will cross our area on Monday, more specifically in the afternoon and evening. Strong to severe storms will be possible once again with gusty winds and small hail.
The threat for severe weather on Monday is higher across our area with a risk level 2 out of 5 introduced for most of our area. It will be warm once again with highs in the low to mid 80s.
Regarding our drought, the latest drought monitor reflects the overall pattern over the past few months. The area of “extreme” drought continues has now expanded to include all of our area. We do have rain in the forecast over the next few days which will help.
The front will usher in cooler temperatures next week. Monday will be warm with highs near 80 degrees, but Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 50s and 60s. Low temperatures for most spots will be in the 40s early next week, with a few areas north and west of the metro in the 30s.
