Breezy winds, mid-80s temps ahead of scattered storms in northeast Florida, drier day in southeast Georgia

Widespread rain followed by cooler temperature on Monday

Sunday afternoon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Winds out of the south/southwest will bring moisture up into our southern counties of northeast Florida, raising the chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

Scattered showers and isolated storms are expected across southeast Georgia and the Suwannee Valley of inland northeast Florida.

Numerous showers and storms are likely to develop with daytime heating along the U.S. 301 and I-95 corridors of northeast Florida. Those storms could interact with the east coast sea breeze and produce isolated strong or severe storms with gusts of 40 to 60 mph, with a lower threat of hail.

Sustained south-to-southwest winds around 15 mph with gusts near 25 mph will make it breezy and push highs well above normal. Most inland spots should reach the mid-80s.

The east coast sea breeze will keep maximum temperatures at Atlantic beaches cooler, generally in the mid-to-upper 70s.

Rainfall totals should be light across most areas, generally less than a tenth of an inch. Higher amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are possible across parts of northeast Florida, where locally heavy rain could occur in stronger storm cells.
