Sea Breeze Brings Afternoon Showers and Storms This Week

Front over Georgia brings increased rain chances for the weekend

The heat returns this week, along with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

A few showers will be possible over Flagler and southern St. Johns counties and the sea breeze moves onshore. These will continue through around 5 - 6 p.m., as they dissipate near and along I-95.

It will feel like summer as near-seasonal temperatures climb toward record highs. The sea breeze will be active this week as the onshore flow continues. Rain chances will increase in the afternoon and early evening as the sea breeze pushes inland. The best chance of showers and thunderstorms will be mainly west of the River and between Highway 301 and I-75.

Rain chances will increase Friday through the weekend as a front stalls over Georgia. As the front lifts north, the flow will switch to a southerly pattern, allowing the sea breeze to merge closer to I-95. While the chance of rain will increase, the coverage will be sparse and the amounts will be light.
