JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A few showers and storms can’t be ruled for the rest of the day with temperatures near 90 degrees. Patchy fog will develop overnight, especially for those areas that saw activity today.
The pattern will remain the same as we head into the Memorial Day weekend. Showers and storms will be possible each day and it will be very warm with highs near 90 degrees.
Heavy rain, gusty wind and frequent lightning will be possible in any storm. The rip current risk will remain elevated as well, use caution if you are heading in the water.
Storm coverage will remain widespread early next week thanks to the southerly wind. Highs on Monday and Tuesday will be near 90 degrees.
In terms of rainfall, accumulation will depend highly on where storms develop. A few spots could see over an inch of rain through next week.
Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects the overall pattern over the past few months. Most of our area remains in an extreme drought. An exceptional drought classification remains over the same locations.
