JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This February, News4JAX is taking a moment to recognize local history that laid the foundation and shaped a legacy that is still unfolding before us.

As this year marks 100 years of national Black history commemorations, we reflect on a century of resilience, tradition and action.

We’re proud to celebrate the many contributions of this community by telling the stories of trailblazers who changed history, while also recognizing fresh faces making a difference through leadership, creativity, and community impact.

Ways to join the celebration:

  • Take a local tour or visit a museum to learn about Black history
  • Support a Black-owned business
  • Attend a Black History Month event
  • Read books or stories written by Black authors
  • Volunteer with organizations serving Black communities
  • Watch movies and documentaries created by Black filmmakers
