Going Ringside Ep. 88: Dave Bautista & Undertaker dominate presidential race dialogue

The 2 wrestling mega-stars endorse opposing candidates for president

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – This is not a story about a SmackDown main event in 2007 or a match at WrestleMania 23. This is about the presidential race in 2024 when the Undertaker and Dave Bautista are facing off once again over politics.

This hybrid wrestling-politics storyline started last week when former WWE Champion turned actor Dave Bautista went on Jimmy Kimmel Live with a video mocking former President Donald Trump. Bautista is an outspoken supporter of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Bautista has since put similar videos on his own social media platforms.

Then days later, word started to leak out that Trump had agreed to appear on the “Six Feet Under” Podcast hosted by the Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway.

Then in the days after that announcement, another video circulated of Trump sitting between Undertaker and his (in wrestling storyline) “Brother” Kane. Kane in real life is Mayor Glenn Jacobs of Knox County, Tennessee, who has appeared on Going Ringside.

This is not the first time politics and wrestling have overlapped. Going Ringside has covered these two worlds merging several times here, here and here. And most notably in recent memory when Jesse Ventura and Hulk Hogan endorsed opposing candidates over the summer.

This story of Undertaker vs. Bautista immediately gained traction on social media. Going Ringside broke it on TikTok and the post was immediately viewed by hundreds of thousands of wrestling fans.

On this episode, we’re joined by radio talk show host Ed Dean and former WWE Superstar Victoria Crawford (AKA Alicia Fox). Crawford will also discuss her upcoming return to the wrestling ring in a match against major rising star Jordynne Grace.
