Don’t use free USB ports to charge your phone while traveling, FBI warns

The FBI is warning travelers who use USB ports to charge their phones that they could be opening themselves up to scammers.

Free charging stations at airports, hotels and malls could be infected with malware.

The FBI says scammers have figured out how to use the ports to put malware into people’s cellphones and other devices.

They can also monitor the software on the devices as well.

The FBI recommends carrying your own charger and using a regular electrical outlet instead.
