FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – After more than a year without nearby grocery options, residents of Fernandina Beach no longer have to wait.
A newly renovated Publix opened its doors to welcome customers back, drawing a large crowd eager to explore the upgraded location.

The reopening comes after both the Publix and a Winn-Dixie in the area closed in 2025, leaving residents with limited grocery options.
Publix Media Relations representative Hannah Herring said the company is thrilled to be back.
“The first thousand customers in line are going to get a special surprise. And there will be reusable bags for our customers when they check out. There will be a lot going on with some samples throughout the store and just really welcoming customers back because they, we know that they have been wanting Publix to return, and we couldn’t be more excited to be back,” Herring said.
The new Fernandina Beach location is one of two Publix stores in the Northeast Florida area to feature a Publix Pours bar, offering beer, wine, smoothies, acai bowls and more.
The other location is the Publix at Silverleaf in St. Augustine, which shares the same larger layout, Pours bar and expanded food bars not typically found at standard Publix stores.
The nearest comparable location outside the area is in Tampa.
