Back-to-school sticker shock: How to cope with higher prices for supplies

Have you checked out prices on back-to-school supplies? Even with the tax-free savings, there’s sticker shock.

The average price of school supplies increased from more than $161 last year to $173 this year. That’s nearly 8% more.

There are a variety of factors driving prices higher. And there’s little relief in sight.
