Alachua Prosecutors Won't Seek Death For Music Legend's Daughter

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Prosecutors announced this week that they would not seek the death penalty against the daughter of a legendary blues musician.

Rosalind Morganfield, the daughter of the late legend Muddy Waters, is behind bars in Gainesville on a murder charge.

She and another man are charged with killing an 18-year-old during a 1996 drug deal.

The state attorney said prosecutors would not pursue the death penalty against either suspect.

It's anticipated it will take about a year before the cases go to trial.
